Re: Wayne Kramer (non-dead) |
thanks for linking the Legend, who unlike Jerry, overcame his demons; not quite in agreement that 'Junkie Romance' would have made a great JGB cover, but they did share 'Harder They Come'
Wayne Kramer - Harder They ComeJunkie Romance
So you wanna look like Johnny
And you wanna act like Keef
And you crave some soft cocoon, boy
For your Charlie Parker grief
And you court the adoration
Of the ones with no esteem
And a hollow point delivery
Dope fiend self-inflicted dream
It's a junkie romance, kid
Alive on Avenue D
It's junkie romance, kid
Nothing comes for free.
As she shoots up through her stockings
You see her thighs as pale as death
And you can't feel her freezing
But there's frost upon her breath.
An old time Rx croaker
The doctor? Yeah, he's in
A drugstore substitution
For the thing the priests call sin.
It's junkie romance, kid
Alive on Avenue D
It's junkie romance, kid
You're dead on MTV.
It's junkie romance, kid
Singing waiting for the man
It's junkie romance, kid
The kingdom if you can
It's junkie romance, kid
He's waiting in the back
It's junkie romance, kid
Yeah, always dressed in black.
It's junkie romance, kid
You're dead on MTV
it's junkie romance, kid
Nothing comes for free.

Re: Wayne Kramer (non-dead) |
I don't know Arb,I could hear Jerry taking some of the crunch out of it and stretching the guitar lines,if you listen between about 2:15 and 2:45 the guitar tone is remarkably similar to Jerry's tone on those 76' versions Moonlight Mile, and I can totally hear Jer singing the refrain.

But then again Arb,I'm kind of strange.
